How it works

NoUploadPDF does its work on your own device, so your documents never need to leave it. Here is what that means, and how you can confirm it for yourself.

Why most PDF websites upload your files

Most online PDF services follow the same pattern. You choose a file, it is uploaded to the company's computers, it is processed there, and the result is sent back for you to download. It works, but it means a copy of your document sits on a computer you do not control, for as long as the service chooses to keep it, under whatever policy it happens to publish.

For a menu or a flyer that may not matter. For a contract, a medical letter, a bank statement or a passport scan, it matters a great deal.

What NoUploadPDF does instead

When you open a tool here, your browser loads the tool itself, in the same way it loads the page you are reading. When you choose a file, your browser opens it on your device and hands it to that tool. The work happens there, on your computer or phone, and the finished file is saved directly to your device.

Your document is never sent anywhere, because nothing on the other end is waiting to receive it. The site does not accept uploads at all.

Every result is checked before you get it

A file that opens is not necessarily a file that is right. So every tool examines what it has produced before offering it to you. A merged document must contain every page you added, in the right order. A protected document must refuse to open without its password and open with it. A cleaned document must no longer contain any of the details you asked to remove.

You can see this happen on the page. If a check does not pass, you are told what went wrong, nothing is offered for download, and your original file is left exactly as it was.

It keeps working offline

After your first visit, the site is saved in your browser. You can switch off your internet connection and the tools carry on working, which would be impossible if your documents had to be sent somewhere.

How to confirm nothing leaves your device

You do not need to take our word for any of this. The simplest check takes a minute:

  1. Open any tool on this site.
  2. Switch off your Wi-Fi, or turn on airplane mode.
  3. Choose a file and use the tool as usual. It still works, because nothing needs to be sent.

For a closer look, open your browser's developer tools (F12 on most computers), select the Network tab, and then use a tool. You will see the page itself load, and nothing sent while your file is being processed.

What we have chosen not to offer

Some features found on other PDF sites cannot be offered without sending your document somewhere, such as converting a web page from its address or translating a document. We leave those out rather than weaken the promise. About NoUploadPDF lists them, with the reason for each.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded at any point?

No. Your browser opens the file on your device and the tool works on it there. The finished file is saved straight to your device. At no point is your document sent anywhere.

Why does a tool take a moment the first time?

The first time you open a tool, your browser downloads the tool itself, just as it downloads the page. After that it is saved on your device and opens straight away, even offline.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The tools work in current mobile browsers on Android and iOS. Very large documents depend on the memory your phone has available.

What happens to my file when I close the tab?

It is gone. Your document was only ever open on your device, and closing the tab releases it. Nothing was copied anywhere else.

Do I have to trust you that nothing is uploaded?

No. You can switch off your internet connection and use any tool, or watch your browser's network activity while you work. Both are explained above.
